What is mentoring?

Mentoring is the process of a less experienced person receiving guidance and advice for professional development from an expert in his/her field.

Why would a coach need mentoring?

– Fast track own growth as a Coach
– Learning how to handle difficult situations
– Better understand how to use the right tools for specific situation
– Gaining new perspectives about a coachee

What is supervision?

‘Coaching supervision is a formal process of professional support, which ensures continuing development of the coach and effectiveness of his/her coaching practice through interactive reflection, interpretative evaluation and the sharing of expertise’ (Bachkirova, Stevens and Willis 2005).

Why would a coach need supervision?

Many coaches often believe that supervision is only needed when experiencing problems with a client…however, this is far from the case.

Supervision advances your learnings as a coach in helping you to analyse your work (what is working, why it is working), your strengths as a coach and ultimately gaining a better understanding of your client.

Coach supervision is especially important for independent coaches as it allows you to discuss challenges regarding clients – enabling you to stay neutral and so serving your client in the most productive way.
